Inkaterra and 2015 So Far…

 Inkaterra has had a busy and successful start to 2015 for both our hotels and their destinations! Here are some highlights so far…

To celebrate, we are running exciting new initiatives throughout the year to demonstrate what we do and who has helped us along the way to become one of the world’s premier sustainable hotel groups.  We were pleased to have greeted the New Year with the news that the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel was awarded as a founding member of the National Geographic Society’s newest foray in world-class travel experiences. National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World is a collection of boutique hotels in extraordinary places that demonstrate commitment to sustainability, authenticity and excellence.

Audobon Photography Awards

 Inkaterra have extended  a prize comprising a five-night stay at Tambopata, Machu Picchu granted a five-night itinerary at Tambopata, Machu Picchu and Urumbamba as the professional prize for the  2015 Audobon Photography Awards. The deadline for entries is 23rd February.

Inkaterra Asociación Announces its 9th Workshop to Educate Youth on Sustainability

 Through a range of activities including games and crafts, children attending the workshop will be educated on environmental issues, sustainability and eco-tourism. It is hoped from these workshops, children will then extend the message to friends and family.

37th Anniversary Celebrations at Inkaterra

The end of 2012 saw the celebration of Inkaterra’s 37th anniversary. The last three decades have been filled with great memories and successes for Inkaterra who are considered a leader in luxury eco-tourism and conservation in Peru. In collaboration with the Inkaterra Association (ITA) the staff took to the main square on Sunday December 16th, in the town of Machu Picchu to mark the celebration.

Educating the local children about conservation and the environment

The Inkaterra Fair was held in order to inform the population and visitors about the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and the different activities that take place at Inkaterra. The team spoke of each of their individual conservation programs that run throughout the year such as the rescue centre for the Andean bears. Dr. Phil Wittman, Research associate at ITA spoke to the children about the ecology of insects in the Machu Picchu area and the production of honey, vegetables and herbs that take place at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo. He also sensitised children to the efforts that Inkaterra achieve to benefiting the local environment and conservation.
