Inkaterra Nominated for Tourism for Tomorrow Awards 2012

Inkaterra is proud to announce that as Peru’s leading provider of luxury and sustainable hospitality we have been recognized for the second time since 2010 by Tourism for Tomorrow as one of the three finalists in the “Conservation” category. The Tourism for Tomorrow Awards are organized by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the winner will be announced at the WTTC’s Global Summit in Tokyo from April 16-19, 2012.

It is an honor that Inkaterra has been nominated for such a prestigious award. Inkaterra has been practicing sustainable tourism for the past thirty-seven years, spending time and research to learn about ecosystems, local practices and community involvement,” says José Koechlin, CEO of Inkaterra.

In addition to the Tourism for Tomorrow nomination, Inkaterra recently received the First International Certificate in Sustainable Tourism given by Control Union Green Choice Sustainable Tourism Standard. The Certification is granted based on sustainability concepts, the use of responsible practices, the conservation of biodiversity and the contribution to local communities in the development of tourist activities.

Along with offering unique eco-friendly and sustainable tourism experiences, Inkaterra prides itself on their luxury accommodations and impeccable service. Conde Nast Johansens, the international luxury travel guide, nominated Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel as “Most Excellent Eco Resort” in the 2012 Awards for Excellence. Inkaterra was the only hotel to receive an award in Peru.
