Hungry? Where to eat in Cuzco!

Newly opened in London this month, Lima is a great example of classic Peruvian food. Equally popular is the new patio at Peruvian Chef Gaston Arcurio’sNew York venture La Mar.

If you’re lucky enough to venture to Peru itself, here are our suggestions of the best places for high end palates in Cuzco.

Located in a colonial mansion in Plaza de Armas, Limo is considered one of the finest restaurants in Cuzco. Named after Aji Limo, the star ingredient of Peruvian cuisine, its celebrity chef Coque Ossio, also owns the Inka Grill, the Map Café and Greens Organic, some of the highest quality restaurants in the city. Enjoy the Acevichado, a popular sushi roll slathered in leche de tigre or choose between a long list of fiery or fruity tropical cocktails at the Pisco Bar.

The Inka Grill, placed in Plaza de Armas, offers a wide range of typical and international dishes. Very well rated by Trip Advisor travelers you can enjoy a chicken Milanese with Gnocchi or a Cuy with potatoes with great background life music.

Reflecting Peruvian food’s regionality, the Chicha Restaurant in Plaza Regocijo serves a reinterpretation of traditional Andean dishes and contemporary recipes. Try the Ensalada Urubamba or a Causa Escabeche in this charming restaurant with also really nice views.

With an innovative cuisine the Map Café is considered one of the best restaurants in Cusco. Close to Inkaterra La Casona’s Hotel and the Map Museum, make sure you taste one of their fabulous desserts such as “lucuma kisses in five textures” or the spicy, chocolatey Sacha Inca.

All the green lovers will be able to enjoy a delicious cuisine made with regional organic products and an excellent service at the Greens Organic Restaurant, the only one of its kind inCusco. You will be able to find innovation, a big selection of ingredients and a very attractive presentation of food.

Rustic and very central, the Baco and its sister Cicciolina will offer you a good selection of wines to combine with your favorite meat. Enjoy them with some tapas or choose a complete Peruvian meal.

If you decide to stay at Inkaterra’s La Casona Hotel, you can dine within the peaceful, intimate confines of this former Spanish convent, enjoying both its historic location on Plaza Las Nazarenas and savouring a contemporary menu peppered with traditional flavours. Dishes include: Andean trout Brazilian nut tempura with spinach, snow peas, pickled carrot and soy sauce vinaigrette, or Beef tenderloin stuff roasted Rocoto Pepper served with yucca and bacon croquette, black mint sauce and tangerine escabeche.
