#LuxVox Twitter Chat on Food and Travel

We are taking part in #LuxVox Twitter chat today at 1pm GMT as we love all things food and travel related.  This chat will be discussing the ultimate culinary experiences, new food delicacies to look out for on your travels and food trends of 2015.

In the last couple of years Peruvian cuisine has put itself on the foodie map with its  diverse flavours, exotics fruits and herbs as well as some of the freshest seafood from the Pacific Ocean. Chefs such as Virgilio Martinez  and Martin Morales  have really helped to bring local Peruvian dishes to London with their phenomenal restaurants.

Join us today at 1pm GMT to talk more about Peruvian food, or read more about traditional Peruvian dishes in another of our blog posts, discussing how traditional cuisine demonstrate the fusion of many different cultures that are ever present in Peru. From Japanese and Chinese  inspired cerviche, chifa and nikkei to traditional salads such as Ensalada Pallares made from Peruvian Lima butter beans.

Inkaterra shortlisted for two PURE Awards 2014

During the recent PURE Awards, Inkaterra was shortlisted in two  award categories, firstly for their ‘Contribution to Conservation & Sustainability’ and secondly José Koechlin founder and president of Inkaterra was nominated for his ‘Contribution to Experiential Travel’.

The PURE Awards have now been running for two years, discovering and rewarding inspirational and experimental travellers from the community. This year the PURE Awards ceremony took place at the Palais des Congrès Marrakech. All those who attended had the chance to cast their vote.

The Inkaterra Asociación (ITA) was shortlisted in the Conservation & Sustainability category due to the creation of the Andean Bear Rescue Center, in the grounds of Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel.  This conservation project is aiming to rescue, rehabilitate and raise awareness of bears found in inadequate captivity conditions, helping develop breeding and reinsertion programs while facilitating research and educating the local community.

José Koechlin, founder and president of Inkaterra was shortlisted in the category for ‘Contribution to Experiential Travel’ and was commended for his inspiring development of eco-friendly tourism in Peru. The awards recognised all his achievements from leading various tourism and conservation boards to co-producing two films featuring Machu Picchu and the Amazon, helping to start the first wave of tourism in Peru.

The Inkaterra Asociación's Coastal Clean-up

Inkaterra Asociación (ITA), the nonprofit organisation established by Inkaterra, recently took part in a national cleaning day, helping to clean the Vilcanota River basin and tributaries around Machu Picchu.

The “International Coastal Clean-up” campaign has been running in Peru since 1999, and is still going strong due to the successful partnerships between SERNAP (national services for protected green areas), NGOs and ITA.

With the help of local communities and the general public the campaign aims to promote the conservation of the local aquatic ecosystems through the development of clean-ups in coastal areas and river banks around Peru.
